Rugs create quality of life

A Rug is a Must!

A rug completes a room in many ways. A room composition without a rug usually looks incomplete and cold. Rugs have many functions that significantly improve the feeling of home and the quality of living. Apart from the visual properties of rugs, they also have some practical benefits that should not be overlooked: among other things, rugs significantly improve room acoustics, as rugs, depending on their design and size, absorb sound. Rugs also reduce unpleasant footfall noise. The feel of walking on rugs with a corresponding pile height can be described as particularly pleasant. Whether in socks or even better barefoot - walking on rugs is like walking on clouds. Rugs also reflect body heat, depending on the material, and counteract “cold feet”. Rugs also bind dust in their pile. This makes rugs positive against house dust allergies.

Conceive and Place Rugs

A rug is usually the last element to complete a room. Rarely is room design based on a rug. Consequently, a rug must be subordinate to the existing conditions, which, by principle, often leads to some compromises in the classic selection. Does the color combination fit, is it the right size, to name just a few parameters. With ANNA VEDA and the Rug Atelier (Rug Configurator) there are no more compromises. You want to match the color combination of your rug to an element of your room? No problem. Any color and color combination is freely selectable. Corresponding innovative and intuitively operated tools let you upload a photo with your target color combination and adapt it to your desired rug in the simplest way. It doesn't get any more precise. Or you have chosen a rug design but want a tone-on-tone color combination for your rug with an accent color from your room. Use the ANNA VEDA tone-on-tone function and select your target color - done. Your designed rug is too dark for you - no problem. You can adjust the brightness and color intensity of your rug seamlessly.

Rugs with High Pile, Low Pile and Shaggy Pile

In the ANNA VEDA Rug Atelier (Rug Configurator) you have the option of determining the pile height yourself. The pile height of a rug can be used as a design element but also as a functional element. In rug design, you can make the rug design appear more spatial (3D effect) by deliberately raising the pile of a color area. Functionally, the choice of pile height is important, e.g. when used under a dining table when chairs have to be moved. A rug with a shorter pile is then recommended. When choosing the pile height of the rug, you should definitely also consider that the higher the pile is chosen, the blurrier the rug design appears in the representation. Therefore, rugs with a high pile should have simple designs if possible. On the other hand, a dense high pile rug is wonderfully fluffy, especially when using the rug barefoot or in socks. Shaggys, on the other hand, are high pile rugs but are relatively coarse and not tightly processed. Therefore, while they are visually fluffy rugs, they are harder to walk on than expected.

Rugs with Loops or Cut Pile

The choice of whether loop or cut pile is predominantly for design reasons, which you can choose partially for each color area or for the entire rug in the ANNA VEDA Rug Atelier (Rug Configurator). The use of loop changes the structure of the rug, or the selected area, and also increases light reflection more or less depending on the material. Technically, the loop has the advantage that dirt cannot penetrate as easily through the “closed” thread in the pile as if the rug pile is cut. A short rug pile with a loop finish is also more durable than a cut pile of the same height. However, the design representation of the rug suffers from excessive use of the loop.

Manufacturing Methods for Rugs from ANNA VEDA

ANNA VEDA exclusively manufactures rugs by hand. ANNA VEDA uses four manufacturing methods for rugs: hand-woven, hand Persian knotted, hand Tibetan knotted, hand tufted. Each of the manufacturing methods has its special properties. Hand-woven rugs use fewer colors. The possible rug design is limited in shape and not very complex. The advantage is the relatively short production time. On the other hand, rugs with a Persian knot have a fine surface and are characterized by high detail fidelity. Rugs with a Tibetan knot can also realize fine rug designs, whereby this has a characteristic line structure for the knotting technique, which radiates a special handcrafted charm. In comparison, hand-tufted rugs are manufactured faster than knotted rugs. However, due to the manufacturing technique, tufted rugs have to be glued with latex - tufted rugs are also not as detailed in design as knotted rugs. In frequent areas, we recommend knotted rugs, as the rug construction is significantly more stable.

The Choice of Materials

ANNA VEDA makes it possible, for almost all products, to choose between the following materials partially for one color or the entire rug: New Zealand wool (mostly worsted yarn), silk, nettle, linen, bamboo, Tencel ™ and various material combinations thereof. These can be individually selected for each rug in the ANNA VEDA Rug Atelier (Rug Configurator). ANNA VEDA does not use plastics, or plastic fibers, in its rugs, but only sustainable materials. Plastics burden our environment in every way and for ANNA VEDA they do not belong in a handcrafted rug.

Rugs and Underfloor Heating

Underfloor heating is not a restriction when choosing a desired rug. Flat-woven rugs are often recommended for use with underfloor heating. At first glance, this seems obvious, but in the final analysis it is irrelevant. You don't have to do without a rug with pile! Read here why: Handcrafted rugs, woven or knotted rugs, allow the heat from underfloor heating to pass through to some extent, as woven or knotted rugs are basically made up of a warp and weft weave in their basic construction and therefore open, not closed, in principle. In addition, the production density (e.g. knotting density), pile height and the material used influence the permeability of the heat. The permeability of the heat through the rug only influences how quickly a room can be heated, not whether it heats up in general. A comparison to wooden floors on underfloor heating is helpful here. Wood has basically insulating properties, like wool in a rug. Nevertheless, parquet, for example, is basically suitable for use with underfloor heating. The principle lies in the general heating and release of heat from the wooden floor, which, due to the insulating value of the wooden layer, takes longer than with less insulating materials. The same applies to the use of rugs on underfloor heating. The more insulating the rug, due to its materials, density and pile height, the longer it takes for the rug to warm up to pass the heat on to the room. Basically, this is negligible for rugs, as it will settle in use with underfloor heating. In total, neither more nor less heating is required. In turn, a rug acts like a heat storage device - similar to a piece of clothing - regardless of where the heat source sits.

Carpet Reference Samples

You have the choice. After creating your desired rug, you can order a hand sample (material and color reference) to allow you to decide in peace whether our implementation of your creation meets your expectations. This sample rug will be made just as individually as the final rug.

You have the choice of three sample sizes: 30 cm x 30 cm, 60 cm x 60 cm and 90 cm x 90 cm. Choose a random section of your created rug with the sample size.

Don't order your desired rug until you have received your reference sample and are happy with everything. Of course, you can make corrections and have another reference sample sent to you.
